This is round one of the North Queensland Zone Outrigger regattas for the year.
Held in Airlie Beach, teams from all over North Queensland are invited to compete. Junior and senior teams of OC6 as well as OC1 and OC2, will compete on a beautiful course, off the shores of Airlie Beach.
The course takes in the foreshore and beach of Pioneer Bay around to Mandalay.
Paddling enthusiasts from Australia and overseas join in three days of challenging racing during the annual Hamilton Cup, held each June.
This four day event is held in the beautiful Whitsunday waters surrounding Hamilton Island and features some of the toughest racing in the world.
Outrigger canoeists, surf ski rides and stand-up paddle boarders compete in more than 100 sprint and medium-distance races, plus demanding marathons over the course of the event.
Away from the water, the Hamilton Cup’s entertaining program of events includes a colourful opening ceremony, nightly entertainment, a closing ceremony and street party.
This is a one day creative writing workshop on Friday followed by cocktail party. Saturday is a full day of listening to well known authors and joining in panel discussions followed by dinner on the jetty.
Sunday is a half day including lunch. Participants can come just for the day or the full weekend and have intimate conversations with authors and journalists from interstate.
This event will combine the glitz and glamour of Dancesport with the stunning views of the Whitsundays and a relaxed, fun and holiday experience.
An open air marquee will be situated on the foreshore of the aqua blue waters of the Whitsunday coast with views across to the resort village of Airlie Beach. A purpose built dance floor is being constructed especially for this event that will be of the highest standards for Dancesport. Spectators will enjoy the best there is to offer in Dancesport competition.
Each day you will see young dancers from the age of six years old to Master competitors dance through their rounds to the finals. They have a fun-filled championship event planned for dance competitors and spectators alike.
Spectators and yachties from around the globe sail to Hamilton Island in August for Audi Hamilton Island Race Week, Australia’s largest annual offshore keelboat regatta.
Race Week is one of Australia’s favourite yachting events and a firm fixture on the international sailing calendar. Competitors, family and friends come together to enjoy the convivial atmosphere and unique camaraderie of the event’s on and off-water carnival.
Racing is split into various categories, from Grand Prix class for top-class racers, to IRC Passage class, performance racing and sports boat classes. More recently, the introduction of a Superyacht and SB3 divisions has added yet another dynamic to the event.
The Hamilton Island Yacht Club and marina are home to the regatta during the excitement of Race Week. Join in the festivities and lively calendar of events, including gourmet meals prepared by celebrity chefs, fashion shows, golfing competitions and wine tastings.
